In the 8th minute, Anísio Secco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Washington Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 10th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizinho Brodel having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Jonathan Moreno had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Luizinho Brodel. Majestoso Leão's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Jonathan Moreno was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Amílton Santos fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Alfredo Mendonça having to interfere. When Dino Valadares came up free with the goalie in the 21st minute, the Majestoso Leão fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dino Valadares couldn't finish the play. Majestoso Leão's Amílton Santos got a good chance for a goal in the 22nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Anísio de Medeiros hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. In the 26th match minute, EC Zamboni was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elder Melo to maneuver through the defense. Alfredo Mendonça showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Amílton Santos in the 28th minute of the match. Anísio de Medeiros's late challenge caught a Majestoso Leão's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Anísio de Medeiros helped the player get up and apologised. In the 32nd minute, Anísio de Medeiros hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Otávio Branco managed to get in a good position for a shot. Majestoso Leão's supporters rose to their feet, but Otávio Branco was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. After having played for 45 minutes, Amílton Santos managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Majestoso Leão's supporters crossed their fingers, but Amílton Santos was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Dino Valadares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 46th minute. Alfredo Mendonça tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Amílton Santos to make the kick off. After some fancy dribbling in the 52nd minute, Jonathan Moreno managed to get in a good position for a shot. The supporters of Majestoso Leão booed when EC Zamboni was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sérgio Cardoso didn't get a good kick on the ball.
