Spectators: 7231 (Terracing: 5425, Seating: 1663, VIP seats: 143) The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Gilson Schmidt got the match started through his kick off. Guarajuba SS's Vânderson Paranaense played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gilson Schmidt in the 3rd minute of play. Vânderson Paranaense made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Guimarães in the 4th minute of play. After some careless play in the Guarajuba SS defense, Gilson Schmidt kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Vânderson Paranaense. The Guarajuba SS fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Vânderson Paranaense should have stopped the shot. After 12 played minutes Guarajuba SS got a freekick which was hit by Richard Vinhas. Gilson Schmidt received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Vânderson Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a defensive mix-up in Guarajuba SS's zone, Nelsinho Guimarães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vânderson Paranaense came out of the goal and Nelsinho Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Gilson Schmidt sent away a hard shot on goal in the 24th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a defensive mix-up in Guarajuba SS's zone, Nelsinho Guimarães stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Vânderson Paranaense came out of the goal and Nelsinho Guimarães tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 29 minutes into the match, Guarajuba SS's goal looked a bit too open when Gilson Schmidt came free, but Vânderson Paranaense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Vânderson Paranaense was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After 43 played minutes Covil FC got a freekick which was hit by Valério Pitta. Nelsinho Guimarães fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vânderson Paranaense having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Lino Custódio made a kick off. Vânderson Paranaense was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 54th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Alan Freire. The supporters of Covil FC booed when Guarajuba SS was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Richard Vinhas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Germano Tasso, 56 minutes into the match, dribbled the ball up the side of the field and decided to take a long shot at the goal. Unfortunately, the ball was poorly hit and landed closer to the corner than to the goal. Gilson Schmidt struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Vânderson Paranaense didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Covil FC. Lino Custódio received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Marcinho Severo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Nelsinho Guimarães's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Vânderson Paranaense read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 68th minute of play. Lino Custódio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 70th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Nelsinho Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 79 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Guarajuba SS! Nelsinho Guimarães received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Vânderson Paranaense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 86th minute, Pedro Augusto Saraiva hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 98th play minute Nelsinho Guimarães came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Vânderson Paranaense. 1-6.
