Anderson Custódio fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 14th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Jardel Matos having to interfere. After 19 minutes of play, Portuguesa Lions's Gilvan Mendonça made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gilmar Custódio was left in no man's land by his defense there! Arthur Pinho hit a great freekick 27 minutes into the match. Gualter Terra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 31st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gilvan Mendonça in the 32nd minute of play forced S.I.F.S.'s goalkeeper Gilmar Custódio to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Augusto Falcão received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Jardel Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 40th minute, Elder Domingues fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Jardel Matos, passed just outside the right post. In the 44th minute, Gualter Terra got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, S.I.F.S.'s Benjamim Veloso got a free kick in the 45th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Alfredinho Carioca during the 53rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Arthur Pinho's late challenge caught a Portuguesa Lions's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Arthur Pinho helped the player get up and apologised. After 57 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for S.I.F.S.! The referee gave Portuguesa Lions a penalty, 59 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Víktor Tróia, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of S.I.F.S.'s Gilmar Custódio. 0-3. 0-4 became the score in the 64th minute when Gualter Terra elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. If Elder Domingues had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 74th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Gualter Terra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 79th minute of the match, but Gilmar Custódio made a huge save. After 83 played minutes S.I.F.S. got a freekick which was hit by Benjamim Veloso. The Portuguesa Lions supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Portuguesa Lions would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
