The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 8th minute, Fausto Moura made a precise shot to the right of Laerte dos Santos. Celsinho Passos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 22nd minute Alex Baiano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Celsinho Passos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Váldson Zonta fell near the penalty area in the 23rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Vicentado SS's protests and gave Váldson Zonta a yellow card for diving instead. Váldson Zonta hit a great freekick 23 minutes into the match. It was beautiful to see Areal's Vágner Tróia in action when he in the 25th minute dribbled his way through a couple of opponents and the fired away a shot from almost standing still. First the ball seemed to get in, but turned out to be on the outside of the net. A great chance! The attack was good, but when Wágner Machado in the 31st minute was about to shoot he didn't kick quite good enough and the ball went high over goal. Celsinho Passos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alex Baiano showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-1 in the 34 minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Areal's zone, Wágner Machado stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Celsinho Passos came out of the goal and Wágner Machado tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Wágner Machado might have been able to make a better finish in the 41st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Celsinho Passos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Wágner Machado ran back to his position shaking his head. If Wágner Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wágner Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 48th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celsinho Passos having to interfere. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Fausto Moura made a kick off. Vicentado SS's Laerte dos Santos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fausto Moura in the 55th minute of play. Alex Baiano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 61st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 64 minutes into the match, Areal's goal looked a bit too open when Alex Baiano came free, but Celsinho Passos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Wágner Machado fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 65th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Celsinho Passos having to interfere. After 66 played minutes Areal got a freekick which was hit by Silvério Cosme. Wágner Machado received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Celsinho Passos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 71st minute of the match Váldson Zonta sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Celsinho Passos skillfully saved the ball. If Fausto Moura had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Wilson Eger struck a weak shot in the 84th minute. Celsinho Passos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Vicentado SS. In the 89th minute the ball was on its way in behind Areal's goalkeeper Celsinho Passos, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 93rd minute, Fausto Moura got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Laerte dos Santos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fausto Moura in the 96th minute of the match. 98 minutes into the match, Alex Baiano had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Celsinho Passos. Areal's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Alex Baiano was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-1.
