The referee showed Guga Botelho the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 12 minutes into the match, Lança Negra's goalkeeper Frank Cunha had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Célio Sergipano. After 16 minutes, Rômulo Quadros made it 0-1 with a short kick to the right side. Areal's Celsinho Passos tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Bebeto Brasil during the 19th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Bebeto Brasil kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. In the 22nd minute, Waldemar Nunes made a precise shot to the right of Celsinho Passos. Areal's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-2. After 28 minutes, Vágner Tróia mouthed his way into the referee's book. The audience thought a goal was coming when Silvério Cosme got free with Frank Cunha in the 33rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Valdomiro dos Santos came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Lança Negra fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Valdomiro dos Santos couldn't finish the play. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Vágner Tróia managed to get in a good position for a shot. Areal's supporters rose to their feet, but Vágner Tróia was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Frank Cunha breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Rômulo Quadros in the 60th minute of play forced Areal's goalkeeper Celsinho Passos to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 62nd play minute Rômulo Quadros came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Celsinho Passos. 1-3. Rômulo Quadros who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 90thth minute tested the skills of Celsinho Passos when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 95th minute Fausto Moura shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Frank Cunha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lança Negra's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
