Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) It was fairly windy and cold on the field when Fábio Lira kicked off to start the match. Poncianos's supporters rose to their feet, but Acácio Barros was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Telmo Esteves breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 41st minute, Poncianos's Edson Amorim ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Telmo Esteves. Telmo Esteves yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-2. A collision led to Poncianos getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Joélson das Neves hit a great ball. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 1-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Acácio Barros to strike the kick off in the second half. Jerônimo de Medeiros could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 54th minute of the match, but Zé Paulo Lucas made a huge save.
