In the 5th minute Jorge Pinho shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denílson Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. CFZ's Denílson Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jerônimo Sampaio in the 6th minute of play. Jorge Pinho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 7th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jorge Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Denílson Gaúcho tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Denílson Gaúcho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jorge Pinho, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. Jairo Vianna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but Gerson de Brito made a huge save. Denílson Gaúcho stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jorge Pinho's shot from short distance in the 23rd minute. If Jorge Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The supporters of Angaturama booed when CFZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Sidney Arce didn't get a good kick on the ball. 34 minutes into the match, CFZ's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo Sampaio came free, but Denílson Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to CFZ getting a freekick after 38 minutes play. Orlando Simões hit a great ball. In the 39th minute of the match Hélio Gonçalves shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Denílson Gaúcho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 41 minutes into the match, CFZ's goal looked a bit too open when Jerônimo Sampaio came free, but Denílson Gaúcho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 42nd minute of the match Frédson Breckenfeld shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Denílson Gaúcho showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Jerônimo Sampaio sent away a hard shot on goal in the 45th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Angaturama's Jerônimo Sampaio in the 48th minute got a chance for a shot 48th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye CFZ's goalie prevented a goal. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jerônimo Sampaio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Gerson de Brito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Flávio Tinoco, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Jerônimo Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot. Angaturama's supporters rose to their feet, but Jerônimo Sampaio was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Denílson Gaúcho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a rather tough play, CFZ's Flávio Tinoco got a free kick in the 64th minute. If Jorge Pinho had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. With his leg Denílson Gaúcho managed to avoid a goal in the 73rdth minute, when Angaturama's Jorge Pinho fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. In the 74th minute, Fabiano Paes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 75 minutes, Jerônimo Sampaio managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Angaturama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jerônimo Sampaio was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In a very dangerous position, a player in Angaturama fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 79th minute. Penalty! After 85 played minutes, Angaturama's Hélio Gonçalves shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Denílson Gaúcho came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Angaturama reached it. Denílson Gaúcho came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by Angaturama's Jerônimo Sampaio. But to his dismay, Jerônimo Sampaio quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. The audience thought a goal was coming when Jorge Pinho got free with Denílson Gaúcho in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After having played for 94 minutes, Jorge Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Angaturama's supporters crossed their fingers, but Jorge Pinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 97th minute, Jorge Pinho got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal.
