In the 22nd minute Vito Quadros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Denílson Gaúcho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Bebeto Teles in the 25th minute of play forced CFZ's goalkeeper Denílson Gaúcho to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 27 played minutes CFZ got a freekick which was hit by Fabiano Paes. CFZ's Denílson Gaúcho played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Vito Quadros in the 28th minute of play. If Vito Quadros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 34th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Denílson Gaúcho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Bebeto Teles in the 39th minute of the match. Denílson Gaúcho made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bebeto Teles in the 46th minute of play. Juninho Nascimento charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Juninho Nascimento the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 47th match minute, Canuma SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Juninho Nascimento to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Vito Quadros stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 62 minutes into the match, Canuma SC's goal looked a bit too open when Flávio Tinoco came free, but Márcio do Valle reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some fancy dribbling in the 66th minute, Jairo Vianna managed to get in a good position for a shot. CFZ's supporters rose to their feet, but Jairo Vianna was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Márcio do Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Bebeto Teles struck a weak shot in the 71st minute. Denílson Gaúcho didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Canuma SC. The supporters of Canuma SC booed when CFZ was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tomás Mattos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a rather tough play, CFZ's Fabiano Paes got a free kick in the 78th minute. Vito Quadros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Denílson Gaúcho made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bebeto Teles in the 81st minute. Vito Quadros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 82nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Denílson Gaúcho having to interfere. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Jairo Vianna in the 84th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Márcio do Valle prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 85 minutes into the game, Romário de Carvalho was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Canuma SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave CFZ the free kick. In the 86th minute, Romário de Carvalho hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Jairo Vianna had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 88th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, CFZ's Jairo Vianna got a free kick in the 92nd minute. The teams fought very hard right up to the final whistle. Both sets of players were happy to go away with a draw.
