The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Alexsandro Arruda came out of the goal and Alexandre Velasco tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. When Walmir da Costa fell near the penalty area in the 25th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Quissaman's protests and gave Walmir da Costa a yellow card for diving instead. In the 25th match minute, Quissaman was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmir da Costa to maneuver through the defense. 28 minutes into the game, Denílson Meirelles was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Raizinhas's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Quissaman the free kick. After a rather tough play, Raizinhas's Denílson Meirelles got a free kick in the 28th minute. Quissaman's Alfredo Rossi managed to work through Raizinhas's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Olívio Rocha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 41st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. In the 44th minute the ball was on its way in behind Raizinhas's goalkeeper Álvaro Nascimento, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Dênis Sergipano to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dênis Sergipano in the 51st minute of play forced Raizinhas's goalkeeper Álvaro Nascimento to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alexsandro Arruda made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Alexandre Velasco sent off a good shot on target. The supporters of Raizinhas booed when Quissaman was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Elder de Amaral didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 86 played minutes Quissaman got a freekick which was hit by Paulo Renato Souza. Alexsandro Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Olívio Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Quissaman fans cheered their team off the field, for while Raizinhas had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
