Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Enéas Garcia to make the kick off. After recieving a nice pass, Lauro's Dé Fonseca tried to score from far away in the 84th minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. After a defensive mix-up in Maranhão Futebol Clube's zone, Alfredo Tande stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusébio Almeida came out of the goal and Alfredo Tande tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Eusébio Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Tande, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Perivaldo Pombal acted impressively in front of the goal and made a superb save when he, in the 92nd minute, took the ball on the long shot from Tiago Loyola. Eusébio Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Gernando Fontes went, in the 93rd minute, to the upper right corner, 1-0 was the resulting score. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Lauro had played much better football throughout.
