In the 30th minute, Dênis Sergipano got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The crowd rose to their feet as Quissaman's Dênis Sergipano slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Eusébio Almeida. That made the score 1-0 after 32 minutes of play. The supporters of Quissaman booed when Maranhão Futebol Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 37 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toninho Fonseca didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dênis Sergipano fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio Almeida having to interfere. 40 minutes into the game, Dênis Sergipano recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Eusébio Almeida. Dênis Sergipano showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 2-0. Eusébio Almeida made an important save on a dangerous shot by Paulo Renato Souza in the 45th minute. Alexsandro Arruda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Enéas Garcia, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Enéas Garcia was the one to do the kick off. Quissaman's Alexsandro Arruda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Enéas Garcia in the 52nd minute of play. Dênis Sergipano received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 56th minute. Eusébio Almeida tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Quissaman's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Maranhão Futebol Clube the free kick. Toninho Fonseca charged in rather forcefully in the 68th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Toninho Fonseca the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 76th minute, Toninho Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in Maranhão Futebol Clube's zone, Alfredo Rossi stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Eusébio Almeida came out of the goal and Alfredo Rossi tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 85 minutes into the match, Maranhão Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Dênis Sergipano came free, but Eusébio Almeida reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Eusébio Almeida took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Alfredo Rossi, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Alexsandro Arruda made a fantastic save in the 95th minute, when Cléberson Valladares sent off a good shot on target. The crowd rose to their feet and cheered when the referee blew the final whistle. Quissaman had won after a very even match.
