The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 29th minute, Nuno Luz fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Álvaro Nascimento, passed just outside the right post. Denílson Meirelles kicked well hit freekick during the 34th minute of the match. 35 minutes into the match, Dé Fonseca sent off a long shot that looked like it was going straight into the goal, but because Álvaro Nascimento threw himself in his full length he managed to grip the ball by the left post, and there was no goal for Dé Fonseca this time. Alfredo Tandes short, quick shot in the 39thth minute got Álvaro Nascimento to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. If Nuno Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 43rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Alexandre Velasco to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 52nd minute, Serginho Novaes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Álvaro Nascimento was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. 61 minutes into the match, Raizinhas's goal looked a bit too open when Alfredo Tande came free, but Álvaro Nascimento reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Nuno Luz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience was convinced that Nuno Luz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Álvaro Nascimento was relentless in the 64th minute of the game. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nuno Luz couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Raizinhas's Olívio Rocha got a free kick in the 79th minute. Alfredo Tande fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Álvaro Nascimento having to interfere. If Nuno Luz had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 87th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the referee ended the match the Lauro players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
