Spectators: 7212 (Terracing: 5410, Seating: 1659, VIP seats: 143) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Diego Diniz started the match with the kick off. In the 3rd minute Cipriano Sergipano shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Luz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Virgílio Luz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mané Braga in the 4th minute of play. Germano Cavalcante fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eusébio de Amorim having to interfere. If Cipriano Sergipano had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After 18 minutes of play, Garuva SC's Cipriano Sergipano made it 0-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Virgílio Luz was left in no man's land by his defense there! After a rather tough play, Garuva SC's Pedro Augusto de Mendonça got a free kick in the 29th minute. Diego Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Eusébio de Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cipriano Sergipano might have been able to make a better finish in the 34th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Virgílio Luz. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cipriano Sergipano ran back to his position shaking his head. Mané Braga sent away a hard shot on goal in the 38th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Virgílio Luz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cipriano Sergipano went, in the 40th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After a rather tough play, Garuva SC's Gilson Pereira got a free kick in the 45th minute. In the 47th minute Maicon Gerber managed to get in a great position but fired away a sharp shot that went outside the goal on the goalie's right hand side. It could just as well have been a goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Germano Cavalcante recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 55th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Maicon Gerber hit a great freekick 59 minutes into the match. Eusébio de Amorim made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Germano Cavalcante in the 62nd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Germano Cavalcante in the 64th minute of play forced Garuva SC's goalkeeper Eusébio de Amorim to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 65th minute of the match Jardel Teixeira shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Virgílio Luz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. If Germano Cavalcante had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 66th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Mané Braga fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 75th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Virgílio Luz having to interfere. After some careless play in the Garuva SC defense, Diego Diniz kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Eusébio de Amorim. The Garuva SC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Eusébio de Amorim should have stopped the shot. In the 84th minute Mané Braga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Virgílio Luz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pedro Augusto de Mendonça blasted a shot towards the goal in the 87th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Virgílio Luz having to make a save. Diego Diniz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Eusébio de Amorim tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Garuva SC eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
