In the 12th minute, Zézinho Ceresso got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Clóvis Pinho had in the 21stth minute some difficulties stopping Cássio Torres's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. In the 25th minute Zézinho Ceresso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Clóvis Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Zézinho Ceresso sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 41st minute, Ja matei saudade's Zézinho Ceresso ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Clóvis Pinho. Clóvis Pinho yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-0. If Claudinho Barbosa had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zézinho Ceresso stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. If Anderson Lara had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 57th minute, Esmeraldino FC's Anderson Lara dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-1. A collision led to Esmeraldino FC getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Mateus Sousa hit a great ball. When the match had been going on for 92 minutes, Esmeraldino FC's Vicente Velloso got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Leonardo Luz. In the 96th play minute José Vítor Guedes came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Leonardo Luz. 1-3. The Esmeraldino FC players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
