José Lopes showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Albertinho Terra in the 5th minute of the match. But to his dismay, Gonçalo Rezende quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. José Lopes showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Albertinho Terra, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. Gonçalo Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 18th minute, Albertinho Terra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Caraiuva's supporters rose to their feet, but Albertinho Terra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. José Lopes breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gonçalo Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 24 played minutes Cachorro SS got a freekick which was hit by Marcel Paranaense. In the 24th minute Albertinho Terra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but José Lopes saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After having played for 27 minutes, Wilian Loyola managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cachorro SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wilian Loyola was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 32nd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cachorro SS's goalkeeper José Lopes, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Albertinho Terra fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 34th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Lopes having to interfere. In the 41st minute, João de Amorim hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After having played for 42 minutes, Luís Fábio Prata managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cachorro SS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luís Fábio Prata was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gonçalo Rezende received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. José Lopes tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 48 minutes into the match, Gonçalo Rezende had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of José Lopes. Cachorro SS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Gonçalo Rezende was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-2. After the first half Caraiuva were leading 0-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Luís Fábio Prata made a kick off. Cachorro SS's José Lopes played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Albertinho Terra in the 54th minute of play. Gonçalo Rezende fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without José Lopes having to interfere. With his leg José Lopes managed to avoid a goal in the 65thth minute, when Caraiuva's Gonçalo Rezende fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Gonçalo Rezende sent away a hard shot on goal in the 69th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. A collision led to Caraiuva getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Elder Figueiredo hit a great ball. The audience was convinced that Albertinho Terra's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but José Lopes was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Caraiuva would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
