The supporters of Varginha FC booed when Caveiras FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 16 match minutes in a wonderful position. Franklin Carneiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. With a little luck, Caveiras FC's Henrique Salles got control of the ball when Enéas Guerra tried to sneak it across the goal line. Caveiras FC's Henrique Salles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tiago da Rocha in the 20th minute of play. Enéas Guerra sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Henrique Salles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tiago da Rocha, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Franklin Carneiro hit a great freekick 30 minutes into the match. Luiz Fábio Marquez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pedrão Gerber in the 37th minute of play. 42 minutes into the game, Caveiras FC's Rui Ferraz nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Luiz Fábio Marquez made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. In the 46th minute, Jorge de Brito hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tiago da Rocha stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. When Cauã Figueiredo fell near the penalty area in the 51st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Varginha FC's protests and gave Cauã Figueiredo a yellow card for diving instead. In the 56th minute Enéas Guerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Henrique Salles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 58 minutes into the match, Caveiras FC's goal looked a bit too open when Tiago da Rocha came free, but Henrique Salles reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 61stth minute of the game Tiago da Rocha who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Caveiras FC's Henrique Salles was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Varginha FC's Enéas Guerra managed to work through Caveiras FC's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Enéas Guerra dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. Henrique Salles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tiago da Rocha's shot from short distance in the 81st minute. Varginha FC's Magno Garcia got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 93 minutes of play, Varginha FC's Enéas Guerra made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Henrique Salles was left in no man's land by his defense there! There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Varginha FC fully deserved thier win.
