The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 4th match minute, Arapuá FC. was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by André Luiz Cardozo to maneuver through the defense. André Luiz Cardozo might have been able to make a better finish in the 39th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Adriano Netto. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. André Luiz Cardozo ran back to his position shaking his head. After having played for 42 minutes, José Vítor Gomes managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Arapuá FC.'s supporters crossed their fingers, but José Vítor Gomes was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. André Luiz Cardozo charged in rather forcefully in the 47th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed André Luiz Cardozo the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Oscar Mattos made a kick off. When André Luiz Cardozo came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the Arapuá FC. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that André Luiz Cardozo couldn't finish the play. 95 minutes into the match, Tapecu's Márcio Massa sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Clemente Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The Tapecu support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
