After having played for 21 minutes, Erasmo Neiva managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PALMEIRAS's supporters crossed their fingers, but Erasmo Neiva was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Clemente Almeida came out of the goal in the 24th minute to try and stop a shot by PALMEIRAS's Emílio Munhoz. But to his dismay, Emílio Munhoz quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-0. After a defensive mix-up in Arapuá FC.'s zone, Emílio Munhoz stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Clemente Almeida came out of the goal and Emílio Munhoz tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. If Erasmo Neiva had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 28th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a defensive mix-up in PALMEIRAS's zone, Paulo Renato Prestes stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Cipriano Trancoso came out of the goal and Paulo Renato Prestes tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cipriano Trancoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Paulo Renato Prestes, who was totally free with the ball in the 37th minute. Cipriano Trancoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from José Vítor Gomes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 47 minutes into the match, Arapuá FC.'s André Luiz Cardozo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Cipriano Trancoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Denílson Paranaense during the 57th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card.
