Cosmos Internacional Club's supporters rose to their feet, but Cauan Chaves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Filipe da Mata breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes in the game, the ball went up into the seats when vila nova's Clemente Barreto fired away a shot that was just a little bit too high. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Clemente Barreto couldn't finish the play. After 40 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for vila nova! No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Cauan Chaves made the kick off in the second half. A collision led to vila nova getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. Remo Penha hit a great ball. After 57 played minutes, Cosmos Internacional Club's Cacá Rodrigues shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Filipe da Mata came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Cosmos Internacional Club reached it. Wilton Britto stood somewhat misplaced when Clemente Barreto came free in front of goal and shot 1-1 to the left of him in the 67 minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 78 minutes into the game, Valério Hoffmann was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. vila nova's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cosmos Internacional Club the free kick. After 78 played minutes vila nova got a freekick which was hit by Valério Hoffmann. Filipe da Mata showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Silvério Pernambucano in the 83rd minute of the match. Silvério Pernambucano might have been able to make a better finish in the 85th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Filipe da Mata. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silvério Pernambucano ran back to his position shaking his head. Armandinho Vergílio charged in rather forcefully in the 88th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down.
