Vigo da Gama Regatas's Rafinha Santos was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Hílton Prado in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. In a very dangerous position, a player in Nucleo de Sangue fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 24th minute. Penalty! After the first half Vigo da Gama Regatas were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Tostão Batista to make the kick off. Faustão Fonseca made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tostão Batista in the 53rd minute of play. If Clemente Guimarães had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 54th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 57 minutes into the game, Fiori Bertassi was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Nucleo de Sangue's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Vigo da Gama Regatas the free kick. The supporters of Vigo da Gama Regatas booed when Nucleo de Sangue was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. Fiori Bertassi didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Nucleo de Sangue's zone, Pedrinho Alcântara stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Hílton Prado came out of the goal and Pedrinho Alcântara tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Germano Fantini fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 60th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Hílton Prado having to interfere. Pedrinho Alcântara who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 63rdth minute tested the skills of Hílton Prado when he managed to save the team from getting behind. A collision led to Vigo da Gama Regatas getting a freekick after 81 minutes play. Samuca Loureiro hit a great ball. Nucleo de Sangue's Hílton Prado played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rafinha Santos in the 86th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Vigo da Gama Regatas's Dionisio Cebrian got a free kick in the 87th minute. In the 88th minute of the match Fabrício Fantini sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Faustão Fonseca skillfully saved the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 91st minute, Adhemar Simões managed to get in a good position for a shot. Vigo da Gama Regatas's supporters rose to their feet, but Adhemar Simões was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Hílton Prado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
