The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Franklin Miranda's late challenge caught a Marau Fc's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Erik Meirelles was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. 13 minutes into the game, Diego Xavier was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. São José FC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Marau Fc the free kick. Diego Xavier hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Cássio Hermes received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 16th minute. Erik Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 21 played minutes, Marau Fc's Adriano Matorin shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Erik Meirelles came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Marau Fc reached it. 22 minutes into the game, Adriano Matorin threw the ball into play from the sideline. São José FC's Diego Xavier quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. Robinho Batista scored 1-2 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Luís Prado, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After having played for 34 minutes, Robinho Batista managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. São José FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Robinho Batista was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Disappointed in the 1-2 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Robinho Batista was the one to do the kick off. Cássio Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Meirelles having to interfere. Hugo de Amaral received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 58th minute. Erik Meirelles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 62nd minute, Jarbas Carioca managed to get in a good position for a shot. São José FC's supporters rose to their feet, but Jarbas Carioca was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luís Prado breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Robinho Batista sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 66 minutes into the match, São José FC's goalkeeper Erik Meirelles had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Cássio Hermes. Cássio Hermes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Erik Meirelles having to interfere. São José FC made a substitution. Dida da Costa replaced Robinho Batista. 72 minutes into the match, Marau Fc's goal looked a bit too open when Dida da Costa came free, but Luís Prado reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. São José FC's Dida da Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 80th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 89 played minutes São José FC got a freekick which was hit by Téo de Sena. When Jarbas Carioca came up free with the goalie in the 92nd minute, the São José FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Jarbas Carioca couldn't finish the play. Luís Prado stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dida da Costa's shot from short distance in the 94th minute. The Marau Fc players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
