When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Cássio Bueno put it in 0-1 from a short distance just to the right of Erik Meirelles. 29 minutes into the match, Olympique Do Marcelo's goalkeeper Vinícius Cruz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Robinho Batista. Vágner Abreu's late challenge caught a Olympique Do Marcelo's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Vágner Abreu helped the player get up and apologised. Vágner Abreu hit a great freekick 32 minutes into the match. If Cássio Bueno had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 35th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Erik Meirelles stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Jacinto de Sousa's shot from short distance in the 37th minute.

When São José FC's Robinho Batista in the 53rd minute got a chance for a shot 53rd didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Olympique Do Marcelo's goalie prevented a goal. Jacinto de Sousa took the ball and in the 56 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Erik Meirelles. Erik Meirelles dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. Erik Meirelles was a little too slow when Raimundo Eduino got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 64th minute. The score was now 0-3. Raimundo Eduino recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Jacinto de Sousa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 74th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 76 minutes into the game, Raimundo Eduino cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Erik Meirelles was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Erik Meirelles showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cássio Bueno, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. 84 minutes into the match, Cássio Bueno notched a goal, 0-5, to the right of São José FC's Erik Meirelles. Erik Meirelles was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 91 played minutes São José FC got a freekick which was hit by Diego Xavier.
