After some fancy dribbling in the 34th minute, Jailson Prestes managed to get in a good position for a shot. Canal's supporters rose to their feet, but Jailson Prestes was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Wilson do Valle breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Canal's Jailson Prestes got a good chance for a goal in the 40th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The audience was convinced that Luís Fábio Perez's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Abe Stad was relentless in the 46th minute of the game. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Fred Mandrak to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in Canal's zone, Percy Pimenta stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Abe Stad came out of the goal and Percy Pimenta tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Germano Pena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 62nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Fred Mandrak recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 64th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomás Costa in the 73rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Abe Stad prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When Jailson Prestes fell near the penalty area in the 90th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Canal's protests and gave Jailson Prestes a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Canal getting a freekick after 90 minutes play. Jailson Prestes hit a great ball. Fred Mandrak's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Wilson do Valle read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 94th minute of play. Foz Cataratas's Wilson do Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fred Mandrak in the 97th minute of play.
