Spectators: 5000 (Terracing: 4000, Seating: 1000, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Falcão Porto started the match with the kick off. 5 minutes into the game, Iara's Nildo Bueno nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Amauri das Neves made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 8th minute Alfredão Antunes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilson Dracena saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 23 minutes of play, Sagui MZ's Alfredão Antunes made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Gilson Dracena was left in no man's land by his defense there! 28 minutes into the game, Narciso Soares cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Gilson Dracena was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Valdomiro Motta during the 33rd minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 33 played minutes Iara got a freekick which was hit by Valdomiro Motta. Joel Coelho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 34th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Gilson Dracena. Iara's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. With 38 minutes on the clock, Simão Vasconcelos commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. The supporters of Sagui MZ booed when Iara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 39 match minutes in a wonderful position. Simão Vasconcelos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 45 minutes into the match, Iara's goal looked a bit too open when Falcão Porto came free, but Gilson Dracena reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Gilson Dracena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Falcão Porto in the 48th minute of the match.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Nildo Bueno was the one to do the kick off. In the 54th minute, Raphael Leite hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Iara's defense didn't have a chance, in the 56th minute, when Falcão Porto scored to the left of an out of position Gilson Dracena, making the score, 1-3. The crowd rose to their feet as Alfredão Antunes kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Gilson Dracena. That made the score 1-4 in the 61 minute of play. When Tomé Paraíba fell near the penalty area in the 66th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sagui MZ's protests and gave Tomé Paraíba a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to Sagui MZ getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Tomé Paraíba hit a great ball. Iara's Gilson Dracena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 69th minute of the match, managed to save Iara from getting a goal against them. With a little luck, Iara's Gilson Dracena got control of the ball when Narciso Soares tried to sneak it across the goal line. Nildo Bueno charged in rather forcefully in the 72nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Nildo Bueno the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Gilson Dracena made an important save on a dangerous shot by Alfredão Antunes in the 82nd minute. Gilson Dracena took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Falcão Porto, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute, Sagui MZ's Narciso Soares ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Gilson Dracena. Gilson Dracena yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-5. Gilson Dracena showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Amadeu Vargas, who was totally free with the ball in the 87th minute. Narciso Soares could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Gilson Dracena made a huge save. An unexpectedly hard shot by Falcão Porto in the 90th minute of play forced Iara's goalkeeper Gilson Dracena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Alfredão Antunes took the ball and in the 91 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Gilson Dracena. Gilson Dracena dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-6. In the 94th match minute, Sagui MZ was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Amadeu Vargas to maneuver through the defense. The crowd rose to their feet as Sagui MZ's Falcão Porto slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Gilson Dracena. That made the score 1-7 after 97 minutes of play. The Iara fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Sagui MZ were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
