The audience was convinced that Bernardinho Laguna's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Reynaldo de Azevedo was relentless in the 19th minute of the game. Reynaldo de Azevedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The Mangaratu AD fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Reynaldo de Azevedo should have stopped the shot. In the 64th minute, Bernardinho Laguna got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Padronal's Mané Mineiro got a good chance for a goal in the 66th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Freddy Angelsø blasted a shot towards the goal in the 68th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Reynaldo de Azevedo having to make a save. Marcel Passos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Soeiro in the 71st minute of play. After 74 played minutes Bernardinho Laguna could catch the ball where he stood relatively free a bit outside the goal and without hesitation he completed 0-5 into the left cross. A collision led to Mangaratu AD getting a freekick after 80 minutes play. César Soeiro hit a great ball. Reynaldo de Azevedo made an important save on a dangerous shot by Bernardinho Laguna in the 81st minute. 83 minutes into the match, Bernardinho Laguna had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Reynaldo de Azevedo. Mangaratu AD's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Bernardinho Laguna was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-6. Reynaldo de Azevedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bernardinho Laguna, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Bernardinho Laguna could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 88th minute of the match, but Reynaldo de Azevedo made a huge save. Aloísio Paraibano hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Bernardinho Laguna struck a weak shot in the 91st minute. Reynaldo de Azevedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Padronal. Bernardinho Laguna who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 95thth minute tested the skills of Reynaldo de Azevedo when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Padronal played a much better game than Mangaratu AD and deserved their victory. The Mangaratu AD players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
