Faustão Montenegro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 4th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sidnei Braga having to interfere. Faustão Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 10th minute. Sidnei Braga didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for E.F JFL Palmares. Zé Roberto Sabóia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 13th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Marcus Neves kicked well hit freekick during the 15th minute of the match. Daniel Sergipano sent away a hard shot on goal in the 17th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Guga Carneiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 20th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Juninho Capixaba having to interfere. Manguaça's Sidnei Braga played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Sergipano in the 23rd minute of play. In the 26th minute, Luiz Fernando Dionísio got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Guga Carneiro's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 28thth minute, Juninho Capixaba skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. During the 30th minute of the match Sérgio da Silveira completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Sérgio da Silveira a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. After recieving a nice pass, Manguaça's Vicente Lago tried to score from far away in the 31st minute, but the ball went over the crossbar. 35 minutes into the match, Guga Carneiro had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Capixaba. E.F JFL Palmares's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Guga Carneiro was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 40th minute Faustão Montenegro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Sidnei Braga saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manguaça's Zé Roberto Sabóia got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Pedro Guedes hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé Roberto Sabóia made a kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Faustão Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. E.F JFL Palmares's supporters crossed their fingers, but Faustão Montenegro was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Juninho Capixaba showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Guga Carneiro, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. Juninho Capixaba stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Guga Carneiro's shot from short distance in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Guga Carneiro notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of E.F JFL Palmares's Juninho Capixaba. Juninho Capixaba was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Juninho Capixaba made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Guga Carneiro in the 73rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in E.F JFL Palmares's zone, Guga Carneiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Juninho Capixaba came out of the goal and Guga Carneiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 86th minute, Guga Carneiro got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Faustão Montenegro recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 90th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Zé Roberto Sabóia in the 93rd minute of play forced E.F JFL Palmares's goalkeeper Juninho Capixaba to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute, Faustão Montenegro ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Sidnei Braga was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-1.
