The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vicente Pirani in the 5th minute of play forced Liberteide FC's goalkeeper Joélson Loyola to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 6th minute, one of Liberteide FC:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Liberteide FC. Osvaldinho Simões walked up to take care of the penalty kick. He was aiming for the top corner, but the ball went just outside the post. In the 12th match minute, Liberteide FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Diogo Lima to maneuver through the defense. Vicente Pirani recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 19th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Grêmio Mello AC's Vicente Pirani got a good chance for a goal in the 21st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After a rather tough play, Liberteide FC's Chico Paraíba got a free kick in the 22nd minute. After having played for 25 minutes, Diogo Lima managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Liberteide FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Diogo Lima was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Rodriguinho Montenegro kicked well hit freekick during the 29th minute of the match. Rodriguinho Montenegro hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. In the 32nd minute, Osvaldinho Simões sent off a long shot on goal, but the shot was nowhere near the goal and Liberteide FC's Joélson Loyola didn't even have to move. Grêmio Mello AC's Válter Teles played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Diogo Lima in the 38th minute of play. Isaltino Catarinense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 42nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. If Cafu Bezerra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The score stood at 0-0 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

Isaltino Catarinense struck a weak shot in the 52nd minute. Válter Teles didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Liberteide FC. Renatinho Fernandez hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. Gustavo Mineiro fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joélson Loyola having to interfere. When Vicente Pirani came up free with the goalie in the 63rd minute, the Grêmio Mello AC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vicente Pirani couldn't finish the play. Vicente Pirani blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Joélson Loyola having to make a save. After a rather tough play, Liberteide FC's Chico Paraíba got a free kick in the 71st minute. 77 minutes into the game, Grêmio Mello AC's Vicente Pirani nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joélson Loyola made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. In the 85th minute Vicente Pirani shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joélson Loyola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isaltino Catarinense sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Diogo Lima received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 91st minute. Válter Teles tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 95 minutes, Ronaldinho Barros mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Grêmio Mello AC and the Liberteide FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 95 played minutes Grêmio Mello AC got a freekick which was hit by Ronaldinho Barros. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Grêmio Mello AC fans cheered their team off the field, for while Liberteide FC had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
