An unexpectedly hard shot by Dênis Saldanha in the 8th minute of play forced Jamandua AD's goalkeeper Júlio Cearense to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Jamandua AD's José Vítor Mello got a good chance for a goal in the 9th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. João Adolfo de Queiroz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Zé de Barros in the 10th minute. A collision led to Jamandua AD getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. José Carlos Saldanha hit a great ball. Lúcio Linares received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 13th minute. Júlio Cearense tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. 14 minutes into the match, Jamandua AD's goal looked a bit too open when João Carlos Reis came free, but Júlio Cearense reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Zé de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 21st minute, one of Jamandua AD:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Jamandua AD. João Adolfo de Queiroz made a fantastic save in the 32nd minute, when José Carlos Saldanha sent off a good shot on target. Júlio Cearense took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from João Carlos Reis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Júlio Cearense showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dênis Saldanha, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. Júlio Cearense showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from João Carlos Reis in the 39th minute of the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Gilmar Gaúcho managed to get in a good position for a shot. Jamandua AD's supporters rose to their feet, but Gilmar Gaúcho was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Gilmar Gaúcho to strike the kick off in the second half. Zé de Barros's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but João Adolfo de Queiroz read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 54th minute of play. Luís Guilherme Dracena recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 71st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. VASCO DA GAMA 1898's João Adolfo de Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by José Carlos Saldanha in the 74th minute of play. Jamandua AD's Gilmar Gaúcho got a good chance for a goal in the 79th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Júlio Cearense was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but João Carlos Reis showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 0-2 in the 83 minute of play. João Adolfo de Queiroz took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilmar Gaúcho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 92nd minute, Dênis Saldanha got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jamandua AD's Júlio Cearense proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to save Jamandua AD from getting a goal against them.
