In the 28th minute, Gil Rosa hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 33 minutes into the game, FIREBALL's Hílton Teles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joélson Quadros made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. When Hílton Teles came up free with the goalie in the 38th minute, the FIREBALL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Hílton Teles couldn't finish the play. Joélson Quadros took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Hernani Melo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After having played for 45 minutes, Walmir de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. FIREBALL's supporters crossed their fingers, but Walmir de Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 57th minute Zé Paulo Cardoso shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joélson Quadros saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of FIREBALL booed when E. C. Vila Mariana was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 57 match minutes in a wonderful position. André Luís Tande didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joélson Quadros didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when FIREBALL's Zé Paulo Cardoso shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-1 in the ordered_time% minute.
