The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Wellington Borges struck a weak shot in the 5th minute. Dário Moreno didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for E.C.Vitoria. Wellington Borges received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Dário Moreno tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When Aníbal Gaspar fell near the penalty area in the 30th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored E.C.Vitoria's protests and gave Aníbal Gaspar a yellow card for diving instead. A collision led to E.C.Vitoria getting a freekick after 30 minutes play. Aníbal Gaspar hit a great ball. Wellington Borges recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Dário Moreno took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aníbal Gaspar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Márcio Matos was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Marcinho Esteves showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 37 minute of play. E.C.Vitoria's Márcio Matos proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 43rd minute of the match, managed to save E.C.Vitoria from getting a goal against them. Yuri Aparecido received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 44th minute. Márcio Matos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. When the match had gone on for 46 minutes, Luís Fabiano de Lima took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Márcio Matos to make any attempt to save it. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Wellington Borges to make the kick off. Sport Klub Beco's Marcinho Esteves got a good chance for a goal in the 52nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Marcinho Esteves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 57th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luís Fabiano de Lima's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Márcio Matos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 61st minute of play. After having played for 63 minutes, Wellington Borges managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. E.C.Vitoria's supporters crossed their fingers, but Wellington Borges was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Luís Fabiano de Lima had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 70th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Marcinho Esteves took the ball and in the 72 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Márcio Matos. Márcio Matos dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. 78 minutes into the game, Marcinho Esteves cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 5-0. Márcio Matos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. 83 minutes into the match, Marcinho Esteves had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Márcio Matos. E.C.Vitoria's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Marcinho Esteves was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 6-0. When Theo von Fraunhofen fell near the penalty area in the 86th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Klub Beco's protests and gave Theo von Fraunhofen a yellow card for diving instead. Theo von Fraunhofen kicked well hit freekick during the 86th minute of the match. Luís Fabiano de Lima sent away a hard shot on goal in the 90th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Márcio Matos came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Sport Klub Beco's Marcinho Esteves. But to his dismay, Marcinho Esteves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 7-0. 96 minutes into the match, Luís Fabiano de Lima notched a goal, 8-0, to the right of E.C.Vitoria's Márcio Matos. Márcio Matos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sport Klub Beco fans cheered their team off the field, for while E.C.Vitoria had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
