But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Reynaldo Fernandez couldn't finish the play. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ademar Vides to strike the kick off in the second half. Alessandro Aparecido could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 59th minute of the match, but Jacinto Fernandes made a huge save. Ramiro Gerber sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle was heard the away supporters stood up and showed their joy. Atlético Clube Goianiense had managed to secure a win in what was a close match throughout.
