Galattasharay SC's Marcelinho Paraense got a good chance for a goal in the 41st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

Marcelinho Paraense who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 74thth minute tested the skills of Tomé Cordeiro when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Galattasharay SC's Zé Paulo do Valle played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alessandro Aparecido in the 76th minute of play. 78 minutes into the game, Betinho Messias was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Galattasharay SC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Atlético Clube Goianiense the free kick. In the 83rd minute Marcelinho Paraense shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Cordeiro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tomé Cordeiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Marcelinho Paraense in the 87th minute of the match. When Betinho Messias came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Galattasharay SC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Betinho Messias couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Galattasharay SC booed when Atlético Clube Goianiense was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position.
