Allan Abraão was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Miguel Barbosa's late challenge caught a Aliança Acegua's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Miguel Barbosa helped the player get up and apologised. The supporters of Aliança Acegua booed when PAYSANDU was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 8 match minutes in a wonderful position. Miguel Barbosa didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 10th minute, one of PAYSANDU:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for PAYSANDU. PAYSANDU:s Simão Siqueira showed great skill when he stopped Rodriguinho Mineiro:s penalty. A collision led to PAYSANDU getting a freekick after 13 minutes play. Marcelo Leite hit a great ball. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 17th minute of the game. One of Aliança Acegua:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of PAYSANDU:s goal. After a defensive mix-up in PAYSANDU's zone, Hílton Paraíba stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Siqueira came out of the goal and Hílton Paraíba tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hílton Paraíba sent away a hard shot on goal in the 26th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 30th minute, José Carlos Gonçalves managed to get in a good position for a shot. Aliança Acegua's supporters rose to their feet, but José Carlos Gonçalves was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Simão Siqueira breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 42 minutes into the match, Arthur de Amaral had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Allan Abraão. Aliança Acegua's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Arthur de Amaral was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell José Carlos Gonçalves to make the kick off. After a defensive mix-up in PAYSANDU's zone, José Carlos Gonçalves stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Simão Siqueira came out of the goal and José Carlos Gonçalves tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Hílton Paraíba received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Simão Siqueira tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Diamantino Brasil sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 79 minutes, Arthur de Amaral managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. PAYSANDU's supporters crossed their fingers, but Arthur de Amaral was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Arthur de Amaral got free with Allan Abraão in the 81st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Simão Siqueira came out of the goal in the 86th minute to try and stop a shot by Aliança Acegua's José Carlos Gonçalves. But to his dismay, José Carlos Gonçalves quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 2-3. When Reinaldo Couto fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Aliança Acegua's protests and gave Reinaldo Couto a yellow card for diving instead. Reinaldo Couto kicked well hit freekick during the 93rd minute of the match. Allan Abraão was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 94th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Edmundo Miranda. The PAYSANDU players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
