An unexpectedly hard shot by Aílton Tróia in the 46th minute of play forced Croqui Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Carlos Eduardo Vargas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 47 minutes into the game, Eugênio de Moraes was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Croqui Futebol Clube's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Taboas the free kick.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Aílton Tróia to strike the kick off in the second half. If Gildo do Valle had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 61st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Aílton Tróia received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Carlos Eduardo Vargas came out and tried to block the shot, but Aílton Tróia slotted it home off the left post making it 1-1 in the 63rd minute. 67 minutes into the match, Taboas's goal looked a bit too open when Kléberson Pombal came free, but Décio Santana reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 97th minute of the match Waldemar Araújo sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Décio Santana skillfully saved the ball. Taboas's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
