Thanks to some nice moves Percy Senna could shoot a difficult shot in the 8th minute, which Dagoberto Amaral however easily saved by the left post. When Teotonio's Ricardo Sarmento in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Galaticos's goalie prevented a goal. 15 minutes into the match, Teotonio's goal looked a bit too open when Pedro Augusto Rodrigues came free, but Dagoberto Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 20th minute Ricardo Sarmento shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizinho Amaral saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Fausto Neto charged in rather forcefully in the 26th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Fausto Neto the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 26th match minute, Galaticos was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fausto Neto to maneuver through the defense. Galaticos's attentive Emílio Antunes managed to snatch the ball when Vágner Machado made a throw-in in the 30th minute of the game. Ediberto Neto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 31st minute. Dagoberto Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valdir Velasco in the 35th minute of play forced Galaticos's goalkeeper Luizinho Amaral to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 38th minute, Ricardo Sarmento ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Luizinho Amaral was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. After 41 minutes of play, Teotonio's Valdir Velasco made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Luizinho Amaral was left in no man's land by his defense there! When André Luiz Gerber fell near the penalty area in the 45th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Galaticos's protests and gave André Luiz Gerber a yellow card for diving instead. In the 45th minute, one of Galaticos:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Galaticos. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Ediberto Neto to strike the kick off in the second half. Dagoberto Amaral showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Percy Senna, who was totally free with the ball in the 54th minute. Dagoberto Amaral made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Percy Senna in the 64th minute of play. Valdir Velasco received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 68th minute. Luizinho Amaral tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A collision led to Galaticos getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Dadá Machado kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. 81 minutes into the match, Teotonio's goal looked a bit too open when Ediberto Neto came free, but Dagoberto Amaral reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 83 minutes Teotonio's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Fausto Neto who took care of the corner kick. The corner led Galaticos's Fausto Neto to fire away a dangerous shot which Dagoberto Amaral despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. When Ricardo Sarmento came up free with the goalie in the 86th minute, the Teotonio fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ricardo Sarmento couldn't finish the play. If Ricardo Sarmento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 95th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Teotonio supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Teotonio would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
