Erivaldo Baptista made in the 47th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Galaticos's Fausto Neto. 49 minutes into the game, Percy Senna recieved a splendid long ball, split the defenders, and gently placed the ball to the left of Roberto Araújo. Percy Senna showed that you don't have to tear a hole in the net to score, 1-1. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.
