Beto Meira was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 12th played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. In the 13th minute Manuel Couto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gilmar Domingues saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Manuel Couto struck a weak shot in the 23rd minute. Gilmar Domingues didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Patau SC. After a rather tough play, Patau SC's Romeu Chaves got a free kick in the 25th minute. In the 34th minute, Zézinho Antunes ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Gilmar Domingues was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-1. After 37 minutes, Erivaldo Leite mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ayuruoca EC and the Patau SC players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 37th match minute, Ayuruoca EC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Erivaldo Leite to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Ayuruoca EC's Gino Alcântara got a free kick in the 40th minute. Patau SC's César Galvão couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 41st minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ayuruoca EC. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

The wind increased when Maurício Lara made the kick off in the second half. Gilmar Domingues stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Couto's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. After some careless play in the Ayuruoca EC defense, Zézinho Antunes kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gilmar Domingues. The Ayuruoca EC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gilmar Domingues should have stopped the shot. Gilmar Domingues made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zézinho Antunes in the 63rd minute of play. Laércio Alagoano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Maurício Lara in the 70th minute of the match. If Zézinho Antunes had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 73rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 77th match minute, Patau SC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Manuel Couto to maneuver through the defense. Zézinho Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 79th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Manuel Couto fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 81st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gilmar Domingues having to interfere. 3-1 became the score in the 85th minute when Manuel Couto elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Zézinho Antunes sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Gilmar Domingues took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Zézinho Antunes, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Couto in the 90th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Gilmar Domingues saved Ayuruoca EC from getting behind. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Patau SC fully deserved thier win.
