After 9 played minutes Criciuma Tigers got a freekick which was hit by Dieguinho Prata. An unexpected shot in the 10th minute by Kiko Paraibano got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. After a defensive mix-up in Criciuma Tigers's zone, Otávio Bastos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Zé Paulo Baiano charged in rather forcefully in the 15th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Zé Paulo Baiano the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After some careless play in the APCV defense, Claudinho Veiga kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Artur Salgado. The APCV fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Artur Salgado should have stopped the shot. Artur Salgado took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafinha Bittencourt, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Zé Paulo Baiano stepped up to make the kick off in the second half.
