Charles Cardoso could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 21st minute of the match, but João Francisco Travassos made a huge save. In the 23rdth minute of the game César Lopes who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but WinchesterBr's João Francisco Travassos was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Augusto Romero struck a weak shot in the 25th minute. Eugênio Albuquerque didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for WinchesterBr. João Francisco Travassos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. WinchesterBr's Elano Mattos pulled a muscle in his back after 43 minutes and couldn't finish the game. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

João Francisco Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from César Lopes in the 82nd minute of play. WinchesterBr's Tarcisio Trancoso got a good chance for a goal in the 83rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. When Adriano de Amaral fell near the penalty area in the 87th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ubanheira's protests and gave Adriano de Amaral a yellow card for diving instead. Adriano de Amaral hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. Eugênio Albuquerque made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Tarcisio Trancoso in the 89th minute of play. The audience was convinced that César Lopes's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but João Francisco Travassos was relentless in the 93rd minute of the game.
