After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Cláudio Pirani managed to get in a good position for a shot. Maiquinique EC's supporters rose to their feet, but Cláudio Pirani was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Nelson Tavares breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Lúcio Abreu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 20 minutes into the match, Mugiwaras AL FC's goal looked a bit too open when Cláudio Pirani came free, but Nelson Tavares reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Marcelinho Chaves kicked well hit freekick during the 20th minute of the match. Marcelinho Chaves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 33rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nelson Tavares made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ulysses Saldanha in the 36th minute of play. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-1 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

With a left leg Vitório Paulista saved Maiquinique EC from getting behind. When Kiko Costa fell near the penalty area in the 93rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Mugiwaras AL FC's protests and gave Kiko Costa a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of Maiquinique EC booed when Mugiwaras AL FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 94 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kiko Costa didn't get a good kick on the ball. The Mugiwaras AL FC supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Maiquinique EC's performance. The match ended with a win for Maiquinique EC.
