EC Calango's supporters crossed their fingers, but Percival Teixeira was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had been going on for 30 minutes, Maiquinique EC's Zé Roberto Leal got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Dagoberto Penha. After 33 played minutes EC Calango got a freekick which was hit by Zé de Senna. After some fancy dribbling in the 36th minute, Percival Teixeira managed to get in a good position for a shot. EC Calango's supporters rose to their feet, but Percival Teixeira was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Vitório Paulista breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Gonçalo Neiva in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Vitório Paulista prevented the ball from getting in the gole. If Chico Godoi had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zé de Senna received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 42nd minute. Vitório Paulista tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a rather tough play, Maiquinique EC's Cláudio Pirani got a free kick in the 46th minute. The Maiquinique EC players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. EC Calango were winning 1-3.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Zé de Senna made a kick off. After some careless play in the EC Calango defense, Cláudio Pirani kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Dagoberto Penha. The EC Calango fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dagoberto Penha should have stopped the shot. In the 92nd minute Ulysses Saldanha shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dagoberto Penha saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 93rd minute, Cláudio Pirani hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Chico Godoi fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 94th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Vitório Paulista having to interfere. EC Calango played a much better game than Maiquinique EC and deserved their victory. The Maiquinique EC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
