After a defensive mix-up in Hamburgo's zone, Kiko Costa stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Dedê Ramos came out of the goal and Kiko Costa tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Nelson Tavares showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dadá Linhares, who was totally free with the ball in the 21st minute. 24 minutes into the match, Kiko Costa notched a goal, 2-0, to the right of Hamburgo's Dedê Ramos. Dedê Ramos was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The audience thought a goal was coming when Kiko Costa got free with Dedê Ramos in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Kiko Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Dedê Ramos having to interfere. With a little luck, Hamburgo's Dedê Ramos got control of the ball when Kiko Costa tried to sneak it across the goal line. Donato Pinheiro kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-0.

Eriberto Netto received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 51st minute. Dedê Ramos tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dedê Ramos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Kiko Costa's shot from short distance in the 55th minute. In the 61st minute, Inácio Fonseca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mugiwaras AL FC's Kiko Costa got a good chance for a goal in the 63rd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Lúcio Abreu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 67th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
