Rogério Leme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Manfredo Marquez in the 6th minute of play. Waldir Cunha could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 10th minute of the match, but Rogério Leme made a huge save. Válter Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Dida Ferraz in the 14th minute of the match. Michel de Barros struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Válter Medeiros didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Cafeara. If Michel de Barros had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Manfredo Marquez received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 24th minute. Rogério Leme tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cafeara's goalkeeper couldn't reach when Manfredo Marquez 31 minutes into the game got a good kick on the ball which found its way into goal just inside left pole. 1-0. Válter Medeiros showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Michel de Barros in the 37th minute of the match. Waldir Cunha fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 38th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rogério Leme having to interfere. An unexpectedly hard shot by Michel de Barros in the 40th minute of play forced Araucaria's goalkeeper Válter Medeiros to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Araucaria's Válter Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Ferraz in the 44th minute of play. Rogério Leme made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Waldir Cunha sent off a good shot on target. If Waldir Cunha had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
The supporters of Araucaria booed when Cafeara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 53 match minutes in a wonderful position. Zé Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Michel de Barros sent away a hard shot on goal in the 57th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Dida Ferraz fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 61st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Medeiros having to interfere. Tomás Cosme hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. In the 67th minute Manfredo Marquez shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rogério Leme saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 74 played minutes Cafeara got a freekick which was hit by Zé Rodrigues. Adriano Toledo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Válter Medeiros having to interfere. A collision led to Araucaria getting a freekick after 78 minutes play. Antônio Ferraz hit a great ball. In the 81st minute of the match Cafeara got a corner. Araucaria's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Tomás Cosme ran over to the corner to take the kick. Araucaria's Lucas Barbosa got a good chance for a goal in the 85th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Rogério Leme took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Manfredo Marquez, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Manfredo Marquez sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Waldir Cunha in the 92nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rogério Leme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Cafeara's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
