Cafu Carvalho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 17th minute. Aníbal Lima tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Luiz Fernando Bittencourt fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 19th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Aníbal Lima having to interfere. Nuno Cerezo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Nuno Cerezo recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 33rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a defensive mix-up in Sambaqui's zone, Luiz Fernando Bittencourt stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Aníbal Lima came out of the goal and Luiz Fernando Bittencourt tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Luiz Fernando Bittencourt might have been able to make a better finish in the 43rd minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Aníbal Lima. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Luiz Fernando Bittencourt ran back to his position shaking his head. If Luiz Fernando Bittencourt had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Luiz Fernando Bittencourt's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Aníbal Lima read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 47th minute of play. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 0-0 after a close first half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Lúcio Gomes to make the kick off. After having played for 54 minutes, Luiz Fernando Bittencourt managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Los Panchos's supporters crossed their fingers, but Luiz Fernando Bittencourt was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. An unexpected shot in the 87th minute by Nuno Cerezo got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. Neither set of supporters seemed pleased with the draw, but both teams had played equally well today.
