In the 10th minute Alexsandro de Barros shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani Lopez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Alexsandro de Barros recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 11th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 13th minute, Alexsandro de Barros left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The CAPE TOWN MZC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. Alexsandro de Barros received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Giovani Lopez tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 36th match minute, Cruzeiro Porto Alegre was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nildo Rosa to maneuver through the defense. In the 45th minute, Ernesto Miranda got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. After a rather tough play, CAPE TOWN MZC's Alexsandro de Barros got a free kick in the 48th minute. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Ernesto Miranda made the kick off in the second half. When Ernesto Miranda fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CAPE TOWN MZC's protests and gave Ernesto Miranda a yellow card for diving instead. After 53 played minutes CAPE TOWN MZC got a freekick which was hit by Ernesto Miranda. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Fábio Mendes in the 55th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Juninho Antunes prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Juninho Antunes didn't succeed to prevent the ball from going into goal when Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's Toninho Pinho shot an unexpected shot in the crossbar's under edge and made 2-1 in the ordered_time% minute. José Pedro Rezende kicked well hit freekick during the 64th minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, Fábio Mendes had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Juninho Antunes.
