The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 7 minutes into the game, Váldson Recife was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. G.F. Baruerinthians's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Cruzeiro Porto Alegre the free kick. Váldson Recife hit a great freekick 8 minutes into the match. A collision led to G.F. Baruerinthians getting a freekick after 10 minutes play. Ramón Madureira hit a great ball. After 13 played minutes G.F. Baruerinthians got a freekick which was hit by Kiko Galvão. 19 minutes into the match, Murillo Severo notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's Giovani Lopez. Giovani Lopez was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 25 played minutes G.F. Baruerinthians got a freekick which was hit by Simão Paraibano. An unexpectedly hard shot by Kiko Galvão in the 27th minute of play forced Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's goalkeeper Giovani Lopez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Fábio Mendes fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 29th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Afonso Negri having to interfere. After having played for 32 minutes, Toninho Pinho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's supporters crossed their fingers, but Toninho Pinho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Kiko Galvão recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Kiko Galvão struck a weak shot in the 41st minute. Giovani Lopez didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for G.F. Baruerinthians. A collision led to Cruzeiro Porto Alegre getting a freekick after 42 minutes play. Nildo Rosa hit a great ball. Murillo Severo sent away a hard shot on goal in the 46th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

If Murillo Severo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Fábio Mendes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Afonso Negri having to make a save. Toninho Pinho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 71st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's Giovani Lopez played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Murillo Severo in the 73rd minute of play. 83 minutes into the match, Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's goal looked a bit too open when Murillo Severo came free, but Giovani Lopez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 87th minute Murillo Severo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Giovani Lopez saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Toninho Pinho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 92nd minute. Afonso Negri tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 95th minute, Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's Fábio Mendes ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Afonso Negri. Afonso Negri yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-1. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The G.F. Baruerinthians fans cheered their team off the field, for while Cruzeiro Porto Alegre had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
