They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Giovani Lopez made an important save on a dangerous shot by Cláudio Moura in the 51st minute. After 65 minutes, Cláudio Moura made it 1-5 with a short kick to the right side. Cruzeiro Porto Alegre's Giovani Lopez tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot.
