Luizão Travassos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-1. 29 minutes into the match, Caraibas's Raúl Peres broke free and took a long shot that unfortunately flew wide. A fine initiative that could have resulted in a goal. Luizão Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dé Queiroz in the 32nd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in Caraibas's zone, Betinho Cosme stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Isaltino Fernandez came out of the goal and Betinho Cosme tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Isaltino Fernandez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Betinho Cosme, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. In the 38th minute, Dé Queiroz got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. 40 minutes into the game, one of Caraibas:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Thomás Carneiro shot the penalty kick right outside the post. With a little luck, Caraibas's Isaltino Fernandez got control of the ball when Gláuber Furlan tried to sneak it across the goal line. If Gláuber Furlan had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 48th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Isaltino Fernandez was a little too slow when Betinho Cosme got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 49th minute. The score was now 2-1. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Túlio Pinheiro to strike the kick off in the second half. Isaltino Fernandez took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Betinho Cosme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Túlio Pinheiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizão Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Cacoalinho getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Gonçalo Loyola hit a great ball. Dé Queiroz might have been able to make a better finish in the 74th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Luizão Travassos. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Dé Queiroz ran back to his position shaking his head. Dé Queiroz sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The supporters of Caraibas booed when Cacoalinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 76 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamílton Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. Betinho Cosme fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 83rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Isaltino Fernandez having to interfere.
