Cacoalinho's Luizão Travassos played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nelsinho Lago in the 8th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Nelsinho Lago's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luizão Travassos was relentless in the 9th minute of the game. Luizão Travassos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Nelsinho Lago in the 11th minute of play. Kiko Neves sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 16 minutes, Gláuber Furlan managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Cacoalinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but Gláuber Furlan was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Nelsinho Lago managed to get in a good position for a shot. Rubro Negro Rj's supporters rose to their feet, but Nelsinho Lago was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Luizão Travassos breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Nelsinho Lago sent away a hard shot on goal in the 21st minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. If Nelsinho Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Ivo Gonçalves came up free with the goalie in the 25th minute, the Rubro Negro Rj fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Ivo Gonçalves couldn't finish the play. In the 34th minute, Nelsinho Lago fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Luizão Travassos, passed just outside the right post. When Hamílton Rodrigues fell near the penalty area in the 35th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Cacoalinho's protests and gave Hamílton Rodrigues a yellow card for diving instead. In the 35th minute, Hamílton Rodrigues hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Nelsinho Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 37th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kiko Neves in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Luizão Travassos prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Luizão Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nelsinho Lago in the 45th minute of the match. The supporters of Rubro Negro Rj booed when Cacoalinho was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hamílton Rodrigues didn't get a good kick on the ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Nelsinho Lago to make the kick off. In the 55th minute Nelsinho Lago shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luizão Travassos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Luizão Travassos stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Nelsinho Lago's shot from short distance in the 58th minute. Ivo Gonçalves struck a weak shot in the 60th minute. Luizão Travassos didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Rubro Negro Rj. Ivo Gonçalves fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 62nd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Luizão Travassos having to interfere. If Nelsinho Lago had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 63rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When Gláuber Furlan came up free with the goalie in the 67th minute, the Cacoalinho fans jumped to their feet. Ivo Gonçalves ran back to his position shaking his head. Betinho Cosme's late challenge caught a Rubro Negro Rj's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Betinho Cosme helped the player get up and apologised. Betinho Cosme hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. If Ivo Gonçalves had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Luizão Travassos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ivo Gonçalves in the 83rd minute of the match. 84 minutes into the match, Cacoalinho's goal looked a bit too open when Nelsinho Lago came free, but Luizão Travassos reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Cacoalinho getting a freekick after 87 minutes play. Betinho Cosme hit a great ball. After 88 played minutes Rubro Negro Rj got a freekick which was hit by Caco Lago. Gláuber Furlan took the ball and in the 95 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Paulo Domingues. Paulo Domingues dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-1. Rubro Negro Rj's supporters were delighted with their team's performance and swarmed onto the pitch at the end of the match to celebrate the victory with the players.
