If Zé Paulo Sabóia had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Edu Machado during the 34th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. In the 36th minute, Noel Cordeiro hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Spock Futebol Clube's defense didn't have a chance, in the 41st minute, when Zé Paulo Sabóia scored to the left of an out of position Roberto Falcão, making the score, 1-0. If Edu Machado had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 44th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Zé Paulo Sabóia to make the kick off. Zé Paulo Sabóia ran back to his position shaking his head. 54 minutes into the match, Spock Futebol Clube's goal looked a bit too open when Edu Machado came free, but Roberto Falcão reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After some careless play in the Spock Futebol Clube defense, Edu Machado kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Roberto Falcão. The Spock Futebol Clube fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Roberto Falcão should have stopped the shot. Edu Machado struck a weak shot in the 63rd minute. Roberto Falcão didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Águia Branca FC. Spock Futebol Clube's Roberto Falcão played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zé Paulo Sabóia in the 65th minute of play. A collision led to Spock Futebol Clube getting a freekick after 65 minutes play. Edgar Massa hit a great ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Edson Quadros in the 96th minute of play forced Águia Branca FC's goalkeeper Célio Cerezo to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Águia Branca FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
